Hello there 🙋🏻♀️! I’m “Study with an SPT,” and I’m here to share my advice, notes, and thoughts with you about physical therapy!
ABOUT ME
I recently graduated from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences as a Doctor of Physical Therapy. I created this website and the associated Instagram when I was in my first year of PT school, hence the “SPT” part of the name (AKA student physical therapist). As a visual learner, I utilized my hobby of drawing by illustrating concepts that I learned in class. I drew these notes in order to help me better understand the content. This seemed to work much better than just writing notes on my laptop or on paper. After realizing that many of my classmates are also visual learners, I tried to come up with a way to share my notes with them in the most efficient way. I saw on Instagram that there was a number of study instagrams, as well as a large physical therapy community. However, I didn’t find any accounts about studying for physical therapy school. As a result, I started an Instagram account, @studywithanspt, just to share photos of my notes with my cohort. “Study with an SPT” features photos of digitally drawn notes on my iPad. I mostly drew photos of gross anatomy and applied anatomy. As more people kept telling me how much my notes had helped them, I knew I wanted to expand outside of Instagram.
MY GOAL
Through this blog, I hope to share topics that I studied in school, favorites that have helped me through the process, and advice to those looking to pursue this profession as well. While I initially started sharing just my drawings on Instagram, I hope to use this blog as a platform to document my time in this field and am open to trying new forms of media to do so. I look forward to sharing my journey towards becoming the best PT I can be with you guys!
